He has served as a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Intellectual Property Protection Working Group and the National District Attorneys Association Working Group for Financial Industry Fraud. Fairtlough is the legal instructor for prosecutor training at the United Sates Secret Service, Dept. of Homeland Security, National Computer Forensics Institute. He formerly served as the legislative liaison for the California District Attorneys Association High Tech Crime Advisory Committee. As a deputy district attorney, he litigated several cases of note including a massive software piracy case with $100 million in losses to companies, a 42-count identity theft complaint featured on the television show “America’s Most Wanted” and a data breach case that involved nearly 200,000 victims. For the last case, Fairtlough received the 2006 Prosecutor of the Year Award from the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators.
